Improving Valhalla

So...I've been doing a little work around the house and here is the most consuming of the lot. the four tall posts will support for the roof for the screened-in portion. Construction is going well despite doing it by myself which usually means some re-do's later when i can stand back and see the work. case in point, the leaning support post under the deck...Oh well...I'll get to that too.

usaisamonster

This is a little clip of the somewhat recent usaisamonster show at the werehouse. it is a lil teaser, being kinda short and all, but it gets my rock-jones on. It is always good to see tom and colin and catch up and this time was no diff...we had a potluck dinner, had good chattin and met the two new members, max and (dang i can't remember dudes name!)both played keyboard and it fit really well sound-wise.

goat premonition

oscar the goat showed some amazing skills of precognition as he pulled this picture out of a box and ate part of it. not an extraordinary feat on it's own but...on this day kevin was to arrive on his first trip up to our house and not fifteen minutes after the discovery too! it's a strange world out there and each day is a mystery.

"rubort" the robot finished and delivered

my first commissioned piece of junk sculpture! RUBORT!! He's a sandwich board of sorts...the black areas on his front and back are chalkboard paint. you can see him this weekend at the HEAVY REBEL, he'll be hanging out at tokyo cowgirl's booth and later at their liberty street location.

A New Adventure Begins Today!

Today is a special day...it is the day that I followed through. What I followed through with is a "space" at the local craft mall. I put up 9 or 10 paintings and a sign with my junkranch.com web address. This is an effort to make good with a promise I have made with myself, which is to rely on my art sales more and my handy-manning less. not that's one is better than the other mind you...it's just that one is more inviting right now. Here's to keeping promises.

Wicked storms follow us to the coast

we left the tornados at home(winston salem-ish) for the cool cool waters of the atlantic, BUT alas they did find us here at emerald isle, NC. No funnels were spotted by this reporter but plenty of blackened stormclouds with fire-cracker sound effect loops playing in the dark dark.

mysterious polkie-dotted fuzzball

this crazy creature pooped-up in our neighborhood recently and has been the subject of intrigue for this blogger...WTHIT??? As one can see from the first photo, "it" appears to be "growing" from or on a tiny twig/limb of this here tree. The HOT PINK polkie-dots let me know that it is probably toxic, not that it looks appetizing mind you. If any of you's have seen a similar botanical oddity, please do comment your experience. cheers. ***UPDATE***Shari Wrote and said:"Howdy Ho, There. Your mystery is solved.

This is a parasitic gall, specifically a wool-sower gall. Ye are about to be the proud pappy of gall wasps."

Thanks Shari, That is exciting!

meet meat robot

Gastrobot for now eats sugarcubes...but inventor says meat is the best source of power for this cute lil train named chew chew. ok...i know i am not the only one who thinks that a meat eating robot is a bad idea. somebody back me up...i mean anyone who's ever read ANY science fiction involving robots gone bad, surely can put together these key points, realizing their recipe for disaster. 1)create a robot that eats meat. 2)add AI(artificial intelligence). well thats enough for me! if you factor in nanobots it gets really scary, i'll explain, meat robot gets smart, realizes that human, albeit it's creator, is mostly evil and made of tasty food...case closed. and thats all well and fine if the robots are big enough to see and run from, but what about those tiny nanobots that folks think are so neat. try a flying cloud of meat eating nanobots on for size...or vice versa. people are dumb as meat.
